Pond Liner Replacement Fund Draft under construction
We are establishing a Pond Liner Replacement Fund beginning May 2026 since the pond liner is approaching a need for replacement.
The original liner (rated 20 year life) was installed with the pond in 1986 and in 2008 (22 years later) was replaced with another 20 year rated liner. At the recent pond cleaning in May, the liner looked like it was still in good shape. But we need to plan ahead and we are now penciling in a replacement in 22 more years = 2030.
A recent estimate for replacement cost is about $40,000.
The board has decided we will be increasing dues by $10 for the 2026/27 fiscal year to help us get there.
Here is a projection including the dues increase along with these factors:
> maintain the current level and higher of investment in CDs ($25,000+)
> add the $8,000 pond liner fund held by the city of Santa Rosa
> continue to have an excellent result from our annual Winter Dinners ($5,000-$7,000)
> maintain the current level of annual donations ~$5,000 (Casting for Recovery and Steelhead in the Classroom)
If we watch our expenses, this projection should come close to $40,000 in 2030.
However, this does not take into account inflation and unknown factors that may arise. As we get closer to the actual liner replacement, we can make other fundraising determinations when necessary.
In the future, we will be regularly reporting on fund progress, in the Cast and at meetings.
For those who want to help build our safety factor, we have set up the option to donate:
